PICCADILLY MIST modern throw quilt 66 by 77 inches

This original quilt was designed, cut, pieced, quilted and bound by me in my home studio. The design reimagines the classic cathedral window block in a striking asymmetrical layout, creating movement and visual appeal.  A fresh, dynamic palette features aqua, teal, blue, red, sage, dill, and yellow set against crisp white. These tones were inspired by the watercolor-like print fabric showcased throughout the quilt. Once finished, a scene popped into my head: a rainy London afternoon, seen through misted glass, with iconic red buses passing by. That image led to the name, Piccadilly Mist. The elegant shape of the window blocks and the unexpected color composition give this quilt a whimsical, yet refined mid-century feel.  It is perfectly sized for living room, patio, or reading nook – or hang it on the wall as a statement piece of modern textile art.

I used white thread to stitch parallel lines across the width of the quilt, giving it an easy drape, crinkled appearance, and a lush, textured feel. Unbleached cotton batting gives the quilt lightweight warmth.   The reverse side features improv piecing in a freeform composition made from the same fabrics as the front.  The binding in sage and light blue was attached securely with machine stitching for durability. All fabrics and batting are premium 100% cotton.

Care: Machine wash in cold water. Tumble dry, low heat; or air dry flat if you prefer. The quilt has been machine washed and dried after construction, to shrink it to its final dimensions.
