WATERCOLOR KALEIDOSCOPE Modern throw quilt 58 by 59 inches

This colorful quilt in a classic kaleidoscope design features prints in the Watercolor Geometry fabric collection by designer Marta Cortese for Benartex.  This collection has geometric patterns including circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles in rich shades of blue, purple, pink, orange, green and gold. I paired this rainbow of color with low volume prints in white and cream.  The neutral background fabrics feature stripes, text, equations, diagrams and grids.  The shifting placement of color creates movement that keeps the eye moving around the design.  A nice compact size, this quilt makes a snuggly lap quilt, baby quilt or travel blanket for your car or RV.

I used white thread to stitch parallel lines across the width of the quilt. This stitching gives the quilt a lush texture, crinkled appearance, and easy drape.  Unbleached cotton batting gives the quilt lightweight warmth. The reverse side has an improv pieced column framed by an ombre that runs from butter to honey to topaz. The binding in the yellow ombre was attached with two rounds of machine stitching for durability. All fabrics and batting are premium 100% cotton.

Care: Machine wash in cold water. Tumble dry, low heat; or air dry flat if you prefer. The quilt has been machine washed and dried after construction, to shrink it to its final dimensions.
