Description
HABITAT Modern quilt. Twin size/Long throw. 65 by 83 inches
I used an eclectic collection of modern designer prints and batiks and an abstract overlapping rectangle design to create this contemporary throw quilt with mid-century design appeal. The patterns of the fabrics include faded bricks, twisted netting, dots, chairs, triangles, and graph lines. The main colors are aqua, deep teal, blue and red – all set against a background of brilliant Kona cotton White. The abstract, minimal design of overlapping rectangles plus the unique fabrics give a metropolitan, mid-century feel to this quilt. A perfect addition to your contemporary home. Because of the long length, this quilt would work well on a twin-size bed or as an extra-long throw in your living room, bedroom, patio or reading nook. Or hang it on the wall as a contemporary art piece with big graphic impact.
I used free-motion quilting and variegated thread to stitch chain squares all over the quilt. This stitching gives the quilt another layer of modern design, a lush texture, crinkled appearance, and easy drape. Unbleached cotton batting provides lightweight warmth.
The reverse side has a large format improv log cabin framed by a teal and aqua print. The binding was attached securely with two rounds of machine stitching for durability. All fabrics and batting are premium 100% cotton.
Care: Machine wash in cold water. Tumble dry, low heat; or air dry flat if you prefer. The quilt has been machine washed and dried after construction, to shrink it to its final dimensions
